Aside from PayPal, does anyone happen to know of a good solution to use for a US 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to accept online payments? At this point, the typical setup fee + 2.5% transaction fee + monthly fees + more fees rate has me questioning whether there are any companies that specifically help out Non-Profits in this scenario for accepting online donations.

I've found companies that will help out with free hosting for non-profits (and good free hosting) such as Dreamhost, but so far nothing that's not too expensive for payment dealings.

Google gives lots of hits of course, but I'm wondering if someone has a specific recommendation. The main criteria are simply minimal costs and maximum reliability. It can be a true gateway or a hosted payment service.

I did come across a thread about e-onlinedata.com giving out deals for non-profits and am going to look into that next, but wanted the community here to have some input.

    Thanks,
    - Jake

There's always Google Checkout which is similar to PayPal but, obviously, through Google.

Is there a reason you're not interested in PayPal? It's a great option unless you're looking for something really powerful.

It's the first option I voiced, but one thing the client brought up was the ability to setup recurring donations. I don't think that's there with basic paypal services...I'm going to look into that a bit more too though.

Just saw that I was wrong on this and there is a recurring donation capability. I'm definitely going to explore paypal as the top option for this organization.

That sounds like the sort of thing you'd need a bespoke system for.

However, it could be solved by simply having donators sign up to a e-mail list and send them a message when you're doing a donation drive.

    Hiya,

This could easily be done with Paypal and i am pretty sure they have a charty account to. Their APIs will allow you to take payment on hosted pages or via thier payment gateway. Hope that helps.
